Light Yard Cafe

We are pleased to present Malaysian artist, Kamwei Fong’s solo exhibition at Light Yard Cafe in the Minsheng neighbourhood.
Kamwei’s animal-themed art centers on a series of furry animal illustrations known as The Furry Thing. Using only black micro pigment ink, Kamwei has created a menagerie of playful kitties, doggies, and other animals. Despite their contextual isolation and uniform style, each of Kamwei’s cats displays unique personalities: some are fluffed and puffed; others look curious. The artist builds each feline form using innumerable short, thin lines, varying marks density to create volume, and a palpable sense of furriness.
We exhibited selected works in Taipei from The Furry Thing series, the most appealing animal from this series is undoubtedly the Kitty, as they look so naive and naughty at the same time. The first piece, Kitty No.1, was inadvertently created in 2009. Kamwei Fong has exhibited in Art Expo Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur in 2018 & 2019 and Salon des Beaux Arts in Paris in 2019.
With special consent from the artist, we are able to make our invitation cards into little stickers as a small gifts for everyone. We hope you were able to get one during the show!
We also invited everyone who came to the show to sit down, have a sip of coffee, and drew the kitties in their heart. The works from all our visitors are co-displayed on the wall, and the wall turned out to be amazing at the end of the show. Special thanks to everyone who joined our little activity and thanks for coming to see the adorable cats in person!
