More about Mitsuko Nagone

Mintprints proudly presents our new collaboration with the Mayor’s Residence Art Salon. We’ll be exhibiting Mitsuko Nagone’s works from 9/16-29. Here’s a little history of the place: Taipei mayor’s residence was built in 1940 and had a mix of Japanese and Western architectural styles. The official residence was the prefectural governor during the Japanese occupation. After World War II, it became the official residence of the mayor of Taipei. Most of the mayors before 1994 resided here, and after 1996, it opened to the public as an art and cultural leisure venue.
The Mayor’s Residence has gone through different periods of evolution, and with these changes comes with redefining the meaning of space. Now, we bring the works of Japanese artist Mitsuko Nagone, whose core question of her works is ‘Who am I?’ and believe that ‘self’ is created and established by oneself. It seems that the work can be seen in a new light when exhibited in this space. Perhaps what we can ask becomes- ‘Who are we?’, and how can we create and show our collective self-worth?
Nagone’s work is also a reflection of our daily lives, which also shows the happiness and craziness of a party. For our opening, we also prepared cheerful snacks like popcorn and hotdogs, as well as some nice beverages and punch. We hope you all enjoyed it.
Thanks again for everyone who came and supported! Until next time!
